Tetiana

Tetiana was injured during a combat mission while defending Ukraine in the Kharkiv region. An enemy shell exploded when she was very close by. This woman is a true heroine who did not hesitate to defend her homeland in the country’s most difficult time. During the mission, she suffered a serious injury, but it did not break her spirit. Now she has an Ilizarov apparatus, which helps to restore her damaged bone. The Ilizarov apparatus is a medical device designed for the treatment of fractures, bone deformities, and limb lengthening. Its primary function is to gradually stretch the bones or fix bone fragments for proper healing. This is achieved through metal pins and rods that pass through the bone and are secured externally with rings or arcs. Tetiana is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the “Way to Health” center. Having worked in medicine her entire life, she compares public healthcare facilities to the “Way to Health” center and notes that the center is far superior to state institutions. Tetiana, like many other defenders of Ukraine, needs our support on her road to recovery. Her heroism is inspiring, but full recovery requires resources. Let’s help our heroes return to normal life! Donate to the rehabilitation of those injured in the war. Every contribution brings them closer to complete healing.

Maksym

Maksym was injured during the heroic defense of his homeland on May 22, 2024, in the village of Bilohorivka, one of the fiercest frontlines. On that day, a drone dropped a grenade that exploded the moment it touched the ground, and Maksym was standing nearby. The blast caused severe injuries: shrapnel struck his other leg, chin, and one of his lungs. Thanks to the swift actions of his comrades, who immediately evacuated Maksym, and the professionalism of the doctors, his life was saved. Despite everything that happened, Maksym remains positive and determined to achieve his goals. Now, he is working on balance training and using his prosthetic limb. When we asked Maksym about his dream, he replied, “I want to start running as soon as possible and carry my bride in my arms on our wedding day.” Maksym is an example of an unbreakable spirit, a person who, despite all hardships, does not lose faith in a better future. His willpower and thirst for life inspire all of us. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the “Way to Health” center and preparing for prosthetics. Maksym has noticed the difference between private and state rehabilitation facilities. At our center, he feels better, noting the approach of our specialists and staff. In other hospitals, he encountered unpleasant attitudes toward soldiers, which left negative impressions. He said, “Here, you walk in, and everyone is polite, treating you with respect.” Maksym, like many other Ukrainian heroes, has endured tremendous trials on the frontlines for our future. Let’s support him and all our defenders on their road to recovery! Donate to the rehabilitation of our soldiers. Every contribution will help them return to normal life and fulfill their dreams.

Mykhailo Kozlov

Mykhailo Kozlov was a fighter in the 413th Dnipropetrovsk Battalion, but his company was reassigned to the 67th Brigade of the “Da Vinci” Battalion, where he continued to serve, defending his homeland. Although Mykhailo has not undergone many rehabilitation sessions yet, he is already seeing remarkable results. Previously, his foot couldn’t move at all, but thanks to the therapists at the “Path to Health” center, it has started to regain movement. Mykhailo said, “I think achieving this in just four sessions is incredible, considering my leg had been immobilized for a year and couldn’t move at all. Now it’s moving, and I can start putting some weight on it.” Both of his legs had pins, but now only one remains pinned, as that leg had its arteries severed and part of the muscle damaged. Thanks to his comrades, who quickly found two sticks and stabilized his leg, the situation ended well. Mykhailo was injured while defending the village of Vilshane, about 30 meters from the enemy. He had been in the dugout, having just left his observation post, and it was finally his time to rest. He sat down, and 10-15 minutes later, at around midnight, a 120mm shell landed, and he was wounded. He wasn’t the only one; many of his comrades were also hit. Immediate aid was provided, and within an hour, Mykhailo was in the hospital, under anesthesia, and his legs were being saved. Now, Mykhailo is undergoing rehabilitation at the “Way to Health” center. Ukrainian defenders like Mykhailo sacrifice their health and lives daily for our future. Their road to recovery is often long and requires our support. Let’s help our heroes return to normal life! Donate to the rehabilitation of our defenders. Every contribution can be a step toward recovery.

Mykola

Mykola was wounded during the frontline battles for the defense of Ukraine. As a result of an acute stroke, he had severe paralysis of the right side of his body, had difficulty speaking, and experienced uncontrolled movements. When he came to our center, Mykola could barely move. He could walk only 30 meters at a time before he needed to sit down and rest. However, he refused to use a wheelchair and struggled to regain his mobility as he once did. The first stage of his rehabilitation lasted 3 months. In the first weeks, his endurance improved significantly, and the therapists adjusted his gait pattern, allowing Mykola to walk more than 1 km without rest. His limb function improved, spasticity decreased, and fine motor skills improved. By the end of the 1st stage, Mykola significantly increased his walking pace and was able to cover a distance of 3 km at a steady pace. During his rehabilitation at the 'Way to Health', the staff began to call him 'our mascot' for the unsurpassed positive attitude Mykola radiates. Thanks to psychotherapy, his mental state has also improved significantly. Now Mykola is confidently looking forward to the 2nd stage of his rehabilitation journey, anticipating further progress. Our therapists achieve good results in the recovery of patients due to their individualized and comprehensive approach. Mykola's testimonial: "After a severe concussion that led to a stroke, I had no hope of returning to an active life. But thanks to the specialists of the 'Way to Health', I learned to function like anyone else again. It was extremely important for me to be able to do things on my own

Lesya

Lesya's story begins with a severe injury she sustained during the fighting, particularly to her right shoulder joint. The diagnosis painted a complex picture of her shoulder condition, including a shattered joint, spinal tumors, nerve damage, and decreased blood supply. She was also struggling with several disturbing mental symptoms: panic attacks, increased anxiety, inability to sleep, difficulty concentrating, and general indifference. In search of healing and recovery, Lesia turned to the "Way to Health". This decision was the beginning of a comprehensive and holistic approach to her recovery. Together with a multidisciplinary team of medical professionals and psychologists, Lesia embarked on a journey that would not only heal her physical wounds, but also provide her with the tools to overcome her emotional challenges. During the rehabilitation period, Lesia made significant progress thanks to her dedication and the guidance of her therapists. The range of motion in her right shoulder joint has improved significantly, accompanied by an increase in the strength of her right arm muscles and strengthening of her muscle corset. Performing carefully selected exercises contributed to these achievements and improved her overall physical well-being. But Lesia's story is not limited to physical recovery. The psychological support she received played an integral role in her recovery. Her progress has been significant. Her mood has become stable again and her sleep has improved significantly. More importantly, Lesia learned to manage and cope with her panic attacks, an achievement that highlighted her inner strength and resilience. There were no signs of suicidal tendencies or cognitive impairment, which emphasizes the positive impact of the psychological assistance she received. Now that Lesya's rehabilitation period at our rehabilitation center is coming to an end, her outlook on the future is optimistic and focused. She can focus on her life and especially on her precious family. Lesya's journey from trauma to recovery is a testament to the amazing capacity of the human body and mind to heal and thrive. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of a skilled team of professionals and Lesya's unwavering determination, she overcame physical and emotional obstacles to become stronger and more resilient.
